DESIGNING A BOOK COVER
You can't do it all, but sometimes you have to do things you've never done before. I always recommend hiring a professional for a book cover, but if that's not in the budget, these videos will help you at least design a professional looking cover in the short term.
1. BASIC BOOK COVER ELEMENTS
A cover has one job, and it isn't to look good. It's to get somone to pick up your book and look at it.
You can make a beautiful cover that's is worthless if you don't know what a cover is for. Before you begin, you need to know what constitutes a great book cover. In this video I go over the five basic elements every book cover should have.
2. THE RIGHT TOOL FOR THE JOB
A lot of authors will tell you they use Canva to design their covers, but I can guarantee no professional publisher does, and neither should you. In this video, I introduce you to a free (open source) software program we'll use to design your cover. Don't skip this video. Krita is a professional grade program and you'll need to know how to configure it to get the most out of it.
3. MAKING YOUR BOOK COVER
In this video we'll go over actually creating your book cover from start to finish. When you'e done, you'll have a professional looking cover that stands out from the background.
